**DISCLAIMER** “Eagle Aviation” is a make-believe commercial airline that is used for various assignments throughout this course. The “Eagle Aviation Leadership Team” referenced below are simply myself and 4 other students that have been paired together for the sake of this group assignment.
****Additional information: This is intended to be a personal reflection on what was learned and gained throughout the decision-making process (follow the specific question prompts in the assignment overview). The team and I have been debating between two options for the change fee policy. We have gone back and forth over discussion forums and virtual meetings all week and have just came to a final decision. The two options we were debating over are: either remove change fees altogether or design a scenario-based change fee policy that is dependent upon loyalty packages (basic, premium, first class, etc.). We have decided to go with a policy which removes change fees altogether. I will attach two simulation transcriipts from module 1 and module 4. The highlighted portion of the module 1 transcriipt has the back story of eagle aviation, and the module 4 transcriipt will explain the assignment that was given to my team.****
(One major issue to highlight; getting all the members of the team to be available at the same time for virtual meetings has been extremely difficult.)
Assignment Overview: In your Eagle Aviation Leadership Team, you worked to develop a policy around eliminating change fees for consumers. You were to negotiate in favor of the stakeholders your role most represents. This created competing values among the leadership team in developing this policy. Reflect on the following:
– How did the group decision-making affect the efficiency and effectiveness of making the decision?
– What conflict was present in the decision-making process? What elements of negotiation were used to reach a consensus on the policy?
– What elements of your stakeholders’ interests did you compromise on? What elements did you not compromise on?
The reflections on the decisions are a regular product you will create in this course. Three primary questions should guide each of your reflections, in addition to the specific questions on the decision above (these questions must be answered within the context of the questions above).
– As I reflect on the course materials so far this semester, what new insights do I have about how I process information and make decisions?
– Do these insights indicate to me that I should make any changes in my approach to making decisions and how I would practically execute these changes?
– How do I apply what I have learned so far to my immediate and future context as a leader? In other words, how does this knowledge inform your understanding of how other people you might be working with make decisions, and as a leader how can you use this information to create a system, climate, and culture where there is constantly more healthy and productive decision making?
