Over the past few years, people have faced many challenges like COVID-19 and natural disasters triggered by climate change. These disruptive events force people to think about the Earth’s future and their overall health, thus triggering a need to change for many. Climate change is a reality, and people worldwide realize they need to change their habits and choices. The food industry is not an exception. According to Forbes Magazine, 34% of greenhouse gasses are generated by food systems. Ranging from agricultural practices to distribution systems.[1] This considerable impact has motivated the food and farming industry to change, become more sustainable and decrease their impact on the environment. This need for change has started a food sustainability movement. For the past years, people and businesses have become more aware of their unsustainable practices and their harm to the environment. This awareness is slowly changing consumer habits and creating more demand for sustainable, friendly products for the environment and better for consumers’ overall health. Governments need to incentivize their farmers to change their agricultural practices to meet the growing demand for sustainable crops. Changing their farming process to a more eco-friendly one will benefit the country’s communities, their farmers, and their resources.
